A Sustainable Future
Our Commitment to a Sustainable Future
At Heritage Trimmings, sustainability is woven into everything we do - from the materials we source to the way we work. We design and manufacture our products to last - with the aim of countering the culture of disposability that dominates so much of modern manufacturing.
As a small manufacturer based in the United Kingdom rooted in traditional craft, our environmental impact is modest, but our commitment is wholehearted.
We actively collaborate with our wider group - including sister brands Gainsborough, Collier Webb, George Spencer Designs and McKinney & Co. - through a shared sustainability programme. Together, we identify common goals around ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility and long-term impact.
In parallel, we uphold clear expectations for our own suppliers, issuing a formal Policy Statement and detailed questionnaire covering fair labour practices, environmental stewardship, and transparency.
Locally, we manage our direct footprint by avoiding overproduction, and ensuring all waste is collected by a local specialist recycling provider. We also car share to reduce commuting emissions and work to a low-energy schedule, closing on Fridays and during shared holidays.
Indirectly, we favour UK-based suppliers to minimise freight emissions, prioritise natural and recyclable materials, and keep packaging to a minimum. While we are not a high-volume polluter, we recognise that sustainability is a shared responsibility.
As custodians of a heritage craft, we operate with care, restraint and continuity - values that align naturally with a more sustainable future. We are also passionate about encouraging young people to engage with and learn from our craft, so that these skills continue to thrive for generations to come. Overall, we continue to evolve our practices for positive environmental and social impact.
